Our Minds Matter

Uncertainty is rising around the current state of our global population's mental health and how we all will show up following COVID-19.

The need for adolescent suicide prevention is alarming and ever-growing. In October 2019, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released a report stating a 56% rise in the suicide rate for U.S. youth ages 10-24 from 2007 to 2017. Public health experts expect an increase in the adolescent suicide and substance abuse rates. Teens are already reporting increased rates of anxiety and depression nationally.

This doesn't have to be this way. We don't need a world where teens dying by suicide is seen as just as a statistic, an unfortunate truth that is impossible to end. Our Minds Matter proves that change is possible. Post-program survey data demonstrates OMM’s positive influence on teens’ protective factors: 78% of students reported an improvement in their ability to use coping skills, 93% reported a greater sense of belonging, 87% reported improvement in their own knowing and confidence in using resources, and 95% reported improved prosocial actions to benefit their peers’ mental health. By meeting students where they are, Our Minds Matter builds the foundation of a future and a community where mental health support is common and encouraged.

We will use the money raised to expand our digital platform and provide more resources to teens during this pandemic. Make an impact.
