New Endeavors by Women

#GivingTuesday is an opportunity. It’s a day when we can publicly and generously think about people in need. We know there are many worthwhile organizations vying for your attention today. Still, we hope you will consider supporting  New Endeavors by Women and women and children in Washington, D.C., who have experienced homelessness.

Women like Darlene, who was a network administrator for 10 years before she became addicted to drugs and her life spiraled, need your help. She is now living in our senior permanent-supportive housing program where the case managers “never give up on you,” says Darlene.

Or Michaelisa, who came out of the closet when she was 16 and was rejected by her family. She turned to drugs to deal with her insecurities. When she came to NEW, her case managers, she says, helped her realize her “self-worth,” and she now feels free to be herself.

These are just two women, but all our women have their own #newstories. With your help, their stories change from being about challenges and struggles to being about confidence and stability. The pandemic with its masks and sanitizer don't change their needs and we continue to house almost 200 women and children and our case managers still connect with their clients via phone and in person meetings.

Watch the video above to hear our Executive Director's story about why she loves NEW.
