Latino Student Fund

With a global health crisis highlighting disparities across our communities, the LSF's mission is more important now than ever. As students engage in distance learning as their primary source of education, many families struggle with language barriers with schoolwork and lack of access to online materials.

This year, the LSF quickly transitioned its eight programs to a virtual format and has demonstrated success in program participation and student academic achievement. We understand that losing out-of-school time programs, like LSF's tutoring, adult ESL classes, and college prep, would mean that students might be unable to keep pace with their peers, continuing the downward trend for educational attainment among low-income minority groups. This is why we fight to keep our programs thriving and expanding.

For our Tutoring Program, we have provided both weekday and weekend slots to best accommodate students’ varying educational needs. Since transitioning to virtual tutoring, the LSF has completed a total of 4,143 hours of one-on-one tutoring! Listo and Te Guio programs currently serve 80 high school students with virtual lessons, one on one mentoring, college prep and tutoring sessions, as well as drop-in hours with coordinators.

To help LSF students and their families remain strong throughout the pandemic, we need your support!

Did you know that 90 percent of Latino Student Fund families are students of color, and most come from low-income neighborhoods? Learn more at: https://www.latinostudentfund.org, and please consider helping hundreds of students and families across the DC metro area continue on their path to a better education.

You can donate directly or set up your own fundraising page and reach out to your network.

Our community is incredible, and the LSF would truly not be where it is today if it weren't for your support. We still have a tough road ahead of us, but we will not stop finding ways to support our students and strengthen this community. Together we can be agents of hope and come out stronger in a better future, changing the lives of Latinx students!
